Our Mission
Faith Place Outdoors is a non-profit organization committed to providing young adults with disabilities a safe environment for enjoying exciting and invigorating outdoor mountain activities. We provide an opportunity for young people to enjoy a relaxing peaceful respite while enjoying the great outdoors. Our goal is to cater your young adult’s visit. This will provide opportunities for them to self-advocate.
We provide opportunities for hiking, fishing, cooking, crafts, wildlife viewing, and fireside cookouts.

Faith Place Outdoors
Faith Place is governed by a board of directors who focus on the high-level strategy, oversight, planning and accountability of the organization.

Attendees will be guests at Doug and Gayna’s mountain property which is located in close proximity to the beautiful Roosevelt National Forest, about 60 miles northwest of Fort Collins. A two-story log home is situated on 35 acres overlooking a spring-fed trout pond. The home is equipped with satellite wi-fi internet, television, and telephone. A log bunkhouse is located adjacent to the main home and can easily accommodate additional guests. The property is frequented by numerous species of big game wildlife, including moose, elk, deer, and antelope. The birds are abundant, especially the different varieties of hummingbirds, who are attracted to the special feeders we prepare for them.
We are situated very close to thousands of acres of public land, including national forests and state wildlife areas. There are endless miles of hiking and fishing in nearby Sheep Creek and the North Fork Poudre River. Guests can also fish at the trout pond right on the property. We have 4-wheel drive side by side OHV vehicles with access to hundreds of miles of U.S. Forest Service Roads in nearby Roosevelt National Forest. Come explore with us!

My son Ben, was my greatest teacher from the time he was a small child. Ben was fiercely independent-minded and energetic and always wanted to be in on the action. Ben also had Down Syndrome. He taught me how to attend to his needs and nurture his dreams and then how to be an advocate for them. I learned about what good inclusive practices looked like in play groups, school, athletics and at home. When he moved from my home into various community living settings my job was to learn to let go and let Ben be the leader for his future. Ben shaped my career path. As a novice activist I participated in volunteer opportunities that led me to founding a non-profit organization in Northern Colorado, The Northeast Colorado Parent Center. The purpose of the organization was to help families navigate the various agencies they would encounter as parents of a child with a developmental disability, primarily early childhood services and school services. As Ben grew older, I made a career change and pursued a master’s Degree as a Transition Specialist and then my PhD in Vocational Special Needs and Human Resources. I worked for the State of Colorado in the Exceptional Student Services for 9 years and then had the opportunity to work for the Poudre School District in Fort Collins for 15 years as an Assistant Director of Special Education. I believe that the best way to make change in large organizations such as the school system is to work in partnership and be part of problem-solving and developing solutions.
